cupcake by the ocean

A birthday gift drawn for a friend who is celebrating her birthday today. I drew one of her characters, and since his design was themed after the ocean, I decided to place him on a beach, enjoying a nice cupcake. I played this piece pretty safe since it was for a friend and wanted to make it look nice, but I did experiment a little with thinner lineart and the style of the background, since my life drawing teacher encouraged me to push my art further.
